EZ Basics

I guess there are basically two EZ midi controller camps: guys like me who just want a really basic and functional "omni" midi guitar to play samples and input into a sequencer/DAW. And those who really want to get in there and experiment with all the neat possibilities of the instrument once sysex and midi data can be played with.

I'm no techie, so for my basic group I just want to make clear that all the highly intimidating geek speek you see in the KVR forum is irrelevant to you: you don't have to get in and start renaming script files and programming and running scripts and co-loading obscure midi routers and such. There's basically just one program (with embedded/accompanying apps and dongles) that does it all. You d/l it, expand/unpack it, double click on the register file, and then just run the EZ-EG/AG program itself. It has a nice GUI front end, and is pretty self-explanatory.

Just wanted new owners like me to not get intimidated by all the sysex babble: you don't need to know any of that to get going with this surprisingly complete app. It's quite good. And critical to making the EZ function as a serviceable midi controller.

The first "how to" will be

The first "how to" will be hooking it up via MIDI. I have it running as a MIDI contoller into my sequencer without using any other apps currently.

Maybe you could start making notes for a "how to" for using that app you're talking about... you didn't mention its name btw! I assume it's Markelford's Guitar Environment?

Actually no, it's the one

Actually no, it's the one Markelford refers to as "Marc's". The EZ-EG/AG v. 3.13 w/a whole lot of extras bundled. The zip file unpacks into a folder called MIDIX with everything you need right in it. I don't think you even have to go to a site, you just click on his link and it downloads automatically. I'll have to hunt for it in the 99 pages. This is why this site is so useful, it'll organize all the useful links from the KVR monster.

If you put a link in here

If you put a link in here I'll ad it to the links page :)
